        This day came as well the attorney for the Commonwealth and the defendant tho called came not but made default.  It is therefore considered by the court that the defendant each make good their fine to the Commonwealth by the payment of $10 and the Commonwealth recover her costs.

Commonwealth vs Blevins Bowling     Indict

        The prisoner was brought to this __ in custody ___and the jury___ and sworn in yesterday returned into court and after completing the testimony and the argument of ___ both for and against the prisoner.  The jury after due deliberation thereon returning into court their verdict to wit:

We, of the jury, find the defendant Blevins Bowling guilty of the charge of manslaughter as contained in the ______ indictment and further find that he be confined in the jail and Penitentiary house of the Commonwealth for the full period and term of ten years.

The prisoner was remanded to jail there to await the judgment of the court.

                              

September 6, 1853        Commonwealth vs Blevins Bowling

     This day came the attorney for the Commonwealth and the prisoner being brought to the bar and a jury demanded of him whether he had anything further to say why sentence should not now be pronounced against him according to the verdict of the jury who nothing further says. 

It is considered by the court that the prisoner be confined in the jail and penitentiary house of the Commonwealth to hard labor for the space of two years.

Commonwealth vs Margaret Collins & Elizabeth Collins

        Being in custody charged with the offense of stealing a child under the age of ten years old and being admitted to bail in the sum of $100 We, Amos Collins, Pleasant Sisemore & Benjamin Collins of Clay County undertake that the above named Elizabeth & Margaret Collins shall appear in the Clay Circuit Court on the first day of next April term to answer said charge and shall then render themselves amendable to the orders and process of the court in the prosecution of said charge and of _____shall render themselves _____ (the rest is difficult to read)

Isaac McCollum, F.I. Gilbert, Gilbert Collins, Wm M. McCollum, Calvin Collins, Claiborn Smith, Aggy Sizemore, Aaron Collins, Pleasant Sizemore, Eliza Scalf, Rebecca Scalf, Elizabeth Collins, Jesse Scalf, & Mahala Woods each acknowledged themselves indebted to the Commonwealth of Kentucky in the penal sum of $100 to be levied of their respective goods & chattels lands & tenements to the use of the Commonwealth rendered but to be void upon their appearance here on the first day of next term of this court as witnesses for the Commonwealth against Margaret Collins and not depart without leave of the Court.
