John McKIM
Second Generation
Third Page

There will be changes/additions to this page as I go through my files and find history on the McKim and associated lines.

There are two lines of McKims' in the US. One that came from Scotland directly and another that came from Ireland but who were Scot/Irish. There are also McKims' in Australia. They were from the Highlands of Scotland.

They are part of the Fraser clan located around Loch Ness. McKim is from the Gaelic McShimidh which means "Son of Simon". Each succeeding Lord Fraser of Lovat is styled McShimidh probably from the Simon Fraser killed in 1333 at Halidon Hill.In 1506 Ewin Makkymmie and John Makkymmie were each granted half of Lepinquhillin in Bute.

List of Surnames

Here I might list all of the family names and variations I've found while researching my family tree.

I may include a map of our family's place of origin in this area.
